2020 Domaine de Bellevue, Muscadet Sèvre et Maine

This story began in 2001 when Jerome Bretaudeau took over a two-hectare family estate in Gétigné. Back then, he could only work weekends and holidays. By 2005, the year of his first vintage, he had expanded to six hectares and by 2009 he had converted to organic production. Today, Domaine De Bellevue has nine hectares of vineyards and spread across various appellations and towns: Gétigné, Cugand, Clisson and Vallet. Jerome is one of a small handful of serious winemakers devoted to the captivating terroir of Muscadet. He is known for his extravagance, both in the grape varieties he cultivates and in the winemaking techniques he uses. His Domaine de Belle-Vue is today one of the leading lights in the region and the quality of his wines is outstanding.

Why do we like it?

This is a gorgeous Muscadet, showcasing bright acidity with fresh apple and mineral salts along with a touch of white flower and white peach. A year+ spent on fine lees give it a fine, creamy palate that balances the acidity and freshness of the wine superbly. Muscadet is in the west coast of France. When visiting the region it is best to simply sit down in one of the restaurants by the sea, order a cold seafood platter alongside a great bottle of Muscadet. I highly recommend you do the same here!
