2015 Domaine de la Chevalerie Bourgueil

Domaine de la Chevalerie sits among the most historical Domaine's in France. It was founded in 1640 and is now run by the 14th generation! It is worth noting that it's a wine close to my heart and a must for anyone willing to explore the treasures of the Loire Valley and the huge potential of Cabernet Franc to age. Since 2012, the family Caslot has converted the vineyards into biodynamic. The Domaine is located in Restigne, a small village near Bourgueil, with terraces and slopes made of various soils. Winemaking is low intervention and as natural as possible, the wines are very enjoyable when young but have an amazing capacity of ageing.

Why do we like it?

Chevalerie benefits from south-west exposure, 75 years old vines on sandy clay over limestone and is one of the best drops of wine you will taste from the region! Either to surprise your family and friends for Christmas or next time you meet with other wine lovers, you will amaze everyone with this bottle, it will not shy away from some of the best Burgundy and Bordeaux wines. Such a perfumed bouquet, a touch of dried raspberries, delicate earthiness and leafiness. The wine is polished and pleasant, racy and sappy, it has so much elegance and maturity for this price!
