When it comes to Champagne, one can either go to very big houses, very big brands that we all know very well. Or one can go to small producers, small growers as they are known nowadays, which work extremely hard in their vineyards every-single day. Imagine the disease pressure in Champagne? Cool, wet, foggy? This guys work soo intensely in the vineyard that it becomes less of a problem. Champagne made organically truly defines the finesse of each glass, the bubbles are fine, creamy, refreshing and so alive. Larmandier-Bernier is a Champagne crafted with "precision, patience, healthy, ripe grapes for pure, mineral, authentic wines", truly is! (Base 18. Disg. April 2021).
Why do we like it?
We know Larmandier-Bernier since several years, and it has always been one of those that you can't ignore. Is pure, is silky, is fine, is delicate, all at the same time. This Blanc de Blanc (100% Chardonnay) is toasty, due to a very long time on lees, expressed in brioche notes, ripe stone fruit, with an incredibly long zesty finish. Absolutely magnificent. It is a premium Champagne, from a tiny grower, we would love to recommend you to serve it in a slightly larger glass, a white wine glass is generally best. It will allow the Champagne to broaden up, and truly express itself. As I am writing these notes, I am having my mouth watering, imagining Larmandier-Bernier Blanc de Blancs with Asparagus and mayo.
