2013 Quilceda Creek, CVR, Columbia Valley, Washington

We are not particularly fans of Robert Parker or any other wine journalist notation, our mantra has always been to follow our palate and to try to find wines that procure emotions. But it is worth noting that Quilceda Creek has received multiple times the highest notes from Parker: 100 points! What we like about Quilceda Creek is that it’s a family-owned and operated winery, which was founded by engineer Alex Golitsyn. His Russian-born parents fled to Paris after the Russian Revolution, and the family immigrated to San Francisco following World War II. Alex spent time in the Napa Valley visiting his uncle, well-known winemaker André Tchelistcheff. After several years of informal winemaking in his garage, Quilceda Creek’s first vintage was 1979.

Why do we like it?

Quilceda Creek produces Cabernet Sauvignon and red blends from estate vineyards. The 2013 vintage is a blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon and blended with Merlot and Cabernet Franc. It’s packed with dark plum, ripe cassis and black figs with nuances of cedarwood, tobacco and vanilla. It’s a wine built to age, that’s why we are so pleased to offer you the 2013 vintage. At almost 10 years of age, the wine will show a bit of evolution and represent a succulent drop!
