2016 Chateau Mazeris, Canon-Fronsac, Bordeaux

Chateau Mazeris dates to 1769 when the castle was built by the De Cournaud family. Since the great-grandfather Guy de Cournuaud, to the grandfather Christian and now to the father Patrick gradually bringing the area of the vines to its current state. You can imagine how so much bigger are some of the top Bordeaux producers. But Mazeris produce no more no less than 19 hectares.

All organically farmed and hand harvested. The Chateau is located 40 kms north-east of Bordeaux, in the heart of the AOC Canon-Fronsac, next to the AOC of Saint-Emilion and Pomerol, on the famous limestone plateau that makes the reputation of the great wines of Libourne.

Why do we like it?

The vineyards are planted with the usual local grapes, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. It is showing so much class, plenty of that succulent dark plum quality along with a touch of menthol and layer of spice. Super well defined  flavours with fully integrated tannin and beautifully matured. A bargain for the price.
