This is one of the most amazing white wines from the Rhône Valley, located in the granitic south and southeast facing terraces of Condrieu. These vines are planted at a very high density of a minimum of 8000 vines per hectare, making the vines fight for nutrients and at the same time concentrating aromas and flavours. Yves Cuilleron doesn’t use treatments such as herbicides or pesticides allowing for the grapes to be the best they can be naturally. At harvest time, all is hand-picked and sorted. The fermentation is carried out in barriques with native yeasts.
Why do we like it?
This is a very expressive wine with an oily texture. A fatty white wine with plenty ripe peach, apricot and nectarine aromas, there is also a layer of florals such as honeysuckle and blossoms, because the wine is matured in oak, it also shows some beautiful notes of vanilla and cardamom. This wine has an amazing potential for ageing, give it 5-6 years and it will give you back more depth of aromas, more earthy ripe fruit, more integration of oak and more longevity.
