2020 Rougeot-Dupin, Chardonnay, Bourgogne

Domaine Rougeot has a long history of making delicious wines in the famed village of Meursault. The Rougeot-Dupin label is a venture that started in 1990 in order to diversify the family range. These wines are made from purchased grapes and the Chardonnay is carefully selected from sustainably grown vineyards in Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise. In addition to this, Alex Rougeot has become a very good friend, he lives in Melbourne with his young family and is today selling his family wines across Australia.

Why do we like it?

This is a creamy, slightly buttery Chardonnay, matured 12 months in barrel, with notes of vanilla, ripe yellow apple, ripe pear, a slight hint of pineapple and a strong sense of minerality, indicative of terroir. The soils are of clay and limestone, bringing a slight elegance to the wine. Expect it to be medium bodied, with elevated acidity and a long lingering finish.
