2021 Bindi 'Block 5' Pinot Noir, Macedon Ranges

Michael Dhillon of Bindi is a legend in the wine business, a true gentleman and one of the most respected winemaker in Australia. The family property was originally purchased in the 1950s, it is a 170 hectares farm of which 7 hectares are planted to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir located 50 kilometres north-west of Melbourne in the Macedon Ranges.

It is a very cool area with native forest and noticeable mountains with vineyards located between 300 and 800m of altitude. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Shiraz, and sparkling wine are the specialties of the region. Most of the wines are made by family-owned producers who make small amounts of wine of which Bindi is one of the very best!

Why do we like it?

Planted in 1992, all MV6, the Block 5 is a north-facing quartz vineyard that has long produced a fuller and age-worthy expression of Pinot that stands out. Expect a lot of red fruits and a dense and savoury texture followed by a great persistence and depth that has made the reputation of the wine of the estate. An impressive wine that is worth aging in your cellar, just like great Burgundy.
