2022 Bindi 'Dixon' Pinot Noir, Macedon Ranges

Michael Dhillon of Bindi is a legend in the wine business, a true gentleman and one of the most respected winemaker in Australia. The family property was originally purchased in the 1950s, it is a 170 hectares farm of which 7 hectares are planted to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir located 50 kilometres north-west of Melbourne in the Macedon Ranges.

It is a very cool area with native forest and noticeable mountains with vineyards located between 300 and 800m of altitude. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Shiraz, and sparkling wine are the specialties of the region. Most of the wines are made by family-owned producers who make small amounts of wine of which Bindi is one of the very best!

Why do we like it?

The Dixon Pinot is a blend from the original 1988 plantings and from the 2001 plantings in the Kaye vineyard above the winery. This is immediately appealing and seductive wine with lots of bright, up-front berry fruit and floral notes, it's energetic with a silky texture. A delicious wine that has some great appeal right now and will carry on to age for very well during the next 2-3 years.
