2017 Agricola Caparsa, Chianti Classico, Tuscany

This winery has been a family affair since 1982, Paolo Cianferoni and his wife Gianna work very closely together in the cellar and the vineyards in Radda, Tuscany. It is in this beautiful and charming town where they have land. The vineyards are fully certified organic and they truly focus on the Sangiovese grape. Believe it or not, only 11.3 hectares of land.

 Their wines are driven by acidity and tannins, they are suave and savoury in their youth, with vibrant sour cherry aromas, dried roses and leather aromas. They can smooth down with age, rounding up a little the edges and become beautifully balanced to be matched with food.

Why do we like it?

 This Sangiovese, in our opinion, is a great match with poultry. Imagine a roasted quail with dried spices and pumpkin puree, will do just fine!

 This wine may benefit from decanting to avoid some possible sediment, but also to allow for it to breathe and express its beautiful aromas. Whether you want to drink now or in 5/6 years it’s your choice, the wine is ready to drink but it has the potential for further ageing.
