NV Mirabella 'Saten', Franciacorta

Franciacorta is an important wine region in Lombardy. It has a short but quality-driven history of producing traditional method sparkling wine from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with some Pinot Bianco. It is as close to Champagne as you can get. Mirabella produces outstanding Franciacorta, made with organic grapes and true respect for the land. Mirabella began production with about 11 hectares in 1980 but rapidly grew to 16 hectares with additional plantings of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc.

Mirabella is careful about the environment and while growth was important to sustain quality and aging, the sustainable method used over the year are still very relevant today, the production comes from vineyards which are certified 100% organic and the energy is 100% coming from renewable sources.

Why do we like it?

‘Saten’ means it is a Blanc de Blancs, in this case it was made from 100% Chardonnay, it was aged for 36 months on the lees. I defy you to find the difference between a great Champagne and the Mirabella Saten, it shows elegance and intensity, with fragrant notes of ripe white pear, acacia flower, a touch of brioche bread yeast enriched with subtle hints of vanilla palate.
