2018 Josmeyer ‘Brand’ Pinot Gris, Alsace

Jean-Meyer passed away in January 2016, he was one of the first people in Alsace to apply biodynamic methods to winemaking which become essential principle for the estate over the years. Today it is his daughters, Celine and Isabelle, who have already been involved in the business for years, that are keeping the continuity regarding the wines created by their father. Having inherited the same passion, the sisters are dedicated to the family enterprise with the same conviction as their father, to do their best and always listen to nature. The winery is in Wintzenheim, a wine-growing town near Colmar and a place that has its own microclimate, with one of the lowest rainfalls in France.

Why do we like it?

Pinot Gris excels in this condition and Brand is one of their two finest Grand Crus. The 2018 is very perfumed and demonstrates a fatty texture and oiliness, with apricot, baked apple and honeysuckle notes, there is a touch of sweetness but believe me, it’s the best way to enjoy Pinot Gris. It makes the grape aromatic alive and lifted!
