The humble Vincent Rapet, whose family has been rooted in Pernand since 1765, now leads this historic 18-hectare domaine alongside his son Robin. Based in the village of Pernand-Vergelesses, Domaine Rapet’s vineyards lie on and around the hill of Corton.Since Vincent took over from his father in 1991, the wines have consistently been of very high quality, representing some of the best value in Burgundy. With over two centuries of making wines, each generation has added a legacy to this beloved domaine. A lot of care goes into the vineyard and the winemaking is pretty classic but the family experience and the eye to adapt to each vintage is what makes the difference. The range is stunning!
Why do we like it?
We simply can't rave enough about their 1er cru Ile de Vergelesses, this vineyard is ideally located and perfectly exposed southeast. It has been mentioned a few times that this vineyard could be a contender for Grand Cru status! What a fine wine, very focused and pure Pinot Noir aromatics, with a layer of ripe dark-cherry fruit and wild strawberry combined with a slight spice of oak. The wine is showing so much finesse with a soft, delicate but long finish, quite exciting indeed!
