Nascetta is a local grape from Piemonte which was rescued by local producers. Only about 15 producers are making wine from this semi-aromatic grape nowadays. We tasted it for the very first time only recently and couldn’t wait to share it with you! It is made by Mauro Marengo, a small winery located in the historic centre of the town of Novello, home to historic wineries and prestigious producers. Mauro is the owner and has surrounded himself with his family, his daughter Daniele, has been given the winemaking part and is doing very well!
Why do we like it?
Because of the the strong link between the terroir and tradition is the pillar of what the family believe in for over three generations. The 2022 Mauro Marengo Nascetta is a gracious white wine that beautifully showcases the unique qualities of the grape. This is a delicious, complex, and vibrant Nascetta, with textural energy and firm acidity, elegantly integrated. Luscious flavours of white grapefruit and white peach lined by spicy notes of ginger and aniseed. There is an enticing savouriness, weaving salted almonds, dried oregano and thyme, then a long and pleasant finish.
