The estate is rooted in Katzenthal and was founded by Felix's grandfather in the late 19th century. It has flourished under Felix's guidance, transforming the estate into one of Alsace's best producer. Felix, who took over in 1992, expanded holdings across seven communes, focusing on historic hillside vineyards. Approximately 75% of the 14-hectare estate lies on hillsides, yielding dry, expressive wines. Meyer-Fonné's five Grand Cru vineyards, organically farmed, produce wines with ripe fruit flavors and a mineral backbone. Traditional winemaking methods and a commitment to organic practices contribute to the exceptional quality of Meyer-Fonné wines.
Why do we like it?
A tiny amount comes in Australia every year, it is safe to say this is one of the greatest Riesling terroir in Alsace! Schoenenbourg Grand Cru produce Riesling that are dry in style with great power and concentration. In the hand of Felix, this wine becomes an hedonistic experience. Full of white peach, honey, candied fruit and spicy undertones. The length is enormous and the tension and freshness is well define and is here to balance the wine, incredible! All in all, an impressive wine combining power and elegance, not to be missed!
