Founded in the 1960s in the heart of the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano region in south-eastern Tuscany, the Valdipiatta estate is owned by the Caporali family and now run by Miriam who is one of the true custodians of this historic wine-growing region and appellation. She studied in Bordeaux and came to her home where she created an oasis of biodiversity that has taken years of commitment. The Valdipiatta vineyards coexist with plants Miriam sows each autumn between the vine rows. The so-called cover crops keep the soil and its all-important organisms well-fed fed attracting beneficial insects creating a natural balance against predatory insects helping protect the Montepulciano terroir and preserve the true expression of Vino Nobile.
The care that occurs in the vineyard and the minimal and patient approach in the winery through the use of exceptional oak and other means produces wines, highlighted by the Vino Nobile which respects tradition while understanding the palates of today’s wine lovers.
Why do we like it?
This wine clearly reveals an evident and generous aromatic expression, characterised by scents of ripe red fruit. The wine is smooth, rounded and enveloping, but full-bodied and substantial at the same time, showing great balance between structure, fullness and elegance.
