2019 Faury ‘VV La Gloriette’ St Joseph, Rhone, France

Domaine Faury, situated in the Northern Rhône Valley, has a rich history that began with Lionel Faury's grandfather, who was a grower. However, it was Lionel Faury who significantly expanded the domaine's reputation for quality wines. Lionel took over the family estate in the late 1970s

initially focusing on vinifying his own grapes rather than selling them. Over the years, Domaine Faury has grown to encompass 17 hectares. Lionel's approach to winemaking combines traditional methods with modern viticulture practices.

 Why do we like it?

"VV La Gloriette" stands for "Vieilles Vignes La Gloriette," indicating that this wine is made from old vines from a specific parcel in Saint-Joseph. This wine is crafted from 100% Syrah grapes from some of the oldest vines on the estate, which contribute to its depth and complexity. Showcasing dark fruit, smoke, and black olive notes, with a transparent and expressive character. The wine undergoes aging in a combination of foudres, demi-muids, and barrels, with only a small percentage of new oak to preserve the purity of the fruit.
