Bodega El Porvenir de Cafayate is based in the high-altitude Cafayate valley of Salta, in northwest Argentina — one of the highest wine regions in the world, where intense sunlight and dramatic diurnal temperature swings produce wines of remarkable colour and concentration. The estate has become a leading champion of Tannat, a grape more commonly associated with Uruguay but increasingly excelling in this corner of Argentina.
Why do we like it?
Laborum de Parcela is a single-block selection from the Finca Río Seco, showing Tannat's naturally powerful, structured character — deep, dark berry fruit, firm, grippy tannins, and real intensity from the high-altitude growing conditions. It's a bold, serious red that rewards food and patience alike, and a fascinating example of how Argentina continues to push the boundaries of what's possible with lesser-known varieties.
