2020 Chateau Barthés, Bandol Rouge, France

Established from the ground up in 1972, Château Barthès has flourished under the skilled guidance of Philippe Barthès, who manages 28 hectares of vines across Le Beausset, Le Castellet, La Cadière, and Sanary. This diverse terroir allows him to produce a signature cuvée in three different colors. The tasting area, located in the winery's cellar, embodies the authenticity of this estate rooted in the Bandol appellation.

 Why do we like it?

Bandol is a prominent appellation in the Provence wine region of southeastern France. Established in 1941, it encompasses red, white, and rosé wines produced from approximately 1,550 hectares (3,830 acres) of vineyards surrounding the Mediterranean coastal town of Bandol. The allure of the French Riviera real estate and the increasing influx of tourists pose significant threats to the future of Bandol wines, with urban development being a greater concern than climate change or fluctuating market dynamics.
