Wasenhaus was founded by Christoph Wolber and Alexander Götze, who met while studying oenology in Beaune and cut their teeth working at some of Burgundy's most celebrated biodynamic estates before returning home to Baden to start their own project. Their mission is to rediscover the historic voice of Pinot Noir in the region — a wine style largely erased by decades of high-yield, easy-to-farm clonal plantings.
Why do we like it?
Grand Ordinaire is 100% Spätburgunder made from a whole-bunch harvest, fermented through roughly 12 days of carbonic maceration before being pressed without extraction and finished in stainless steel. The result is a wine bursting with pure, fresh fruit — vivid red cherry and raspberry, a touch of spice, and an irresistibly juicy, light-on-its-feet character. Bottled with no added sulfur, it's a wine designed for pure pleasure, best enjoyed with a slight chill.
