2023 Mee Godard, Beaujolais-Villages, France

Mee Godard’s 2023 Beaujolais-Villages comes from a small, organic domaine in Villié-Morgon, Beaujolais, founded by the South Korean-born winemaker in 2013. With a background in Oregon and Burgundy, Godard farms 7 hectares of old-vine Gamay on granite and schist soils, including her Beaujolais-Villages parcels. Her hands-on approachman, manual harvests, low yields from 65-year-old vines, and a mix of carbonic and traditional vinification, produces wines with uncommon depth.

Why do we like it?

The 2023 vintage, influenced by a warm growing season, pours a vivid ruby and reveals aromas of ripe raspberry, violet, and pink peppercorn, underpinned by a mineral edge. It’s lush yet precise on the palate, with juicy strawberry, soft tannins, and a silky, enduring finish that nods to Burgundian finesse.
