Pierre Gaillard has been ploughing vineyards since he was 12 years old, he knew from an early age that wine will be his destiny. He bought his first vineyard in 1981 and went to become one of the most emblematic producer of St-Joseph and Côte-Rôtie. They started by planting their first vineyard in Saint-Joseph. These days Pierre works with his three children, on their 25 hectares across 6 sub regions of the Northern Rhone valley.
Why do we like it?
Côte-Rôtie has some of the most beautiful wines from the Rhone valley, and certainly some of the longest-lived of the region, it is intensely aromatic with ripe black-fruit aromas, grounded black pepper, smoked meat, and with age can start developing leather, earthy and mushroom aromas. These is a wine you can keep for several years before drinking and may benefit from decanting.
