Montenidoli is a legendary estate in San Gimignano, Tuscany, run by the indomitable Elisabetta Fagiuoli since 1965. Long before "natural wine" was a recognised category, Fagiuoli was farming organically and minimising intervention in the cellar, earning her a reputation as one of Italy's most quietly influential winemakers — best known for her benchmark Vernaccia di San Gimignano, but equally accomplished with red blends.
Why do we like it?
"Sono Montenidoli" ("I am Montenidoli") is a fitting name for a wine that speaks so directly of its maker and her land. This Toscana Rosso shows bright red and black cherry fruit, a savoury, earthy undertow, and the kind of honest, unpolished character that defines Fagiuoli's hands-off approach. With several years of bottle age, it's showing real secondary complexity — leather, dried herbs and a long, satisfying finish. A genuine taste of old-school, terroir-first Tuscany.
