Quartz Reef’s story began with a pioneering vision for Central Otago sparkling wine. Founded by winemaker Rudi Bauer and partners in 1996, the estate planted its first vines at Bendigo in 1998. Sparkling wine was an early ambition for the region’s naturally fresh, high-acid fruit—and has since become a signature of the Quartz Reef story.
Made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, this Brut NV is crafted using the traditional method: a second fermentation takes place in the bottle, followed by extended ageing on the lees. The result is a fine, creamy mousse and added savoury complexity, balanced by the freshness of Central Otago fruit.
Why do we like it?
We love its balance of lively green-apple and citrus character with delicate brioche notes, crisp acidity and an elegant, dry finish. It’s polished yet inviting—equally at home as an aperitif or alongside a meal, and a bottle that makes a celebratory moment feel effortless.
