2020 Domaine de la Chevalerie "Peu Muleau" Bourgueil France

Domaine de la Chevalerie is among the most historic estates in France, founded in 1640 and now run by the 14th generation of the same family in Bourgueil, a Loire Valley appellation that produces some of the purest expressions of Cabernet Franc anywhere in the world. The estate farms biodynamically, with a deep, multi-generational understanding of its individual parcels.

Why do we like it?

Peu Muleau shows bright red and black cherry fruit, a touch of crushed leaf and graphite, and the silky, structured tannins that define great Bourgueil Cabernet Franc. With a few years of bottle age, it's developing real secondary complexity — proof of why this small Loire appellation, in the right hands, can produce wines of genuine seriousness and longevity.
