2020 La Spinetta “Bordini” Barbaresco, Italy

La Spinetta’s roots trace back to the 1890s when Giovanni Rivetti left Piedmont for Argentina, dreaming of winemaking glory. His son Giuseppe “Pin” made it real, and by 1977, the family settled in Castagnole Lanze. Giorgio Rivetti’s passion grew it into a Barbaresco icon. I’d love to toast their grit at their cellar, tasting history in every sip.

 Why do we like it?

The 2020 Bordini hails from Neive’s 40-year-old vines, hand-picked and fermented 7-8 days in roto-fermenters, then aged 20-22 months in French oak barriques. It’s medium-bodied, with cranberry, rose, and spice notes, a dusty earth finish, and fine tannins. I’d savor its vibrant lift, picturing Piedmont’s foggy hills in every glass.
