2021 Amelie & Charles Sparr “Amour interdit” Alsace, France

Yes, Alsace does make fantastic Pinot Noir that might rival seriously Burgundy soon enough due to global warming! And this wine will show you why. This is Amélie and Charles Sparr’s tale, a couple united by vine and love in Wettolsheim, Alsace. Since 2017, their biodynamic winery, born from centuries-old family roots, crafts soulful wines. Charles, the 12th-generation vintner, and Amélie, from a winemaking clan, blend tradition with bold innovation, tending 18 hectares, including four Grand Crus, with passion.

 Why do we like it?

From 1981-planted Mambourg Grand Cru vines, this Pinot Noir is aged in a 500-liter barrel. It shows smoky red cherry, brown spice, and crushed stone notes. Medium-bodied, plush, with vibrant energy, it’s sultry, elegant, like a forbidden romance, lingering with refined depth and promise.
