In the Berthier family, the profession of winegrower has been handed down from father to son for five generations. Clement and Florian are passionate about the art of viticulture and deeply committed to their family’s winemaking tradition. In 2012, after travelling the world, the newest generation returned to the family’s terroirs. Clément, who has worked as a cellar master in the USA, is now responsible for vinification and sales at the domaine. Florian, building on his experience gained in Burgundy and New Zealand, is now in charge of the work in the vineyards.
Why do we like it?
The vineyards are grown in “lutte raisonnée”, with natural pratices used for pest control. The yields are controlled and kept low for the appellation and natural yeasts are used for both fermentations. Clément is using natural gas from the fermentation as much as possible to protect the wine during winemaking instead of using heavy sulphur. The wines are precise, pure and of incredible quality. Their Pinot Noir is a light wine, showing a mineral nose that is very appealing and lifted. Lot of fresh raspberries, strawberry and rose petal notes and a high acidity that will make you come back to it.
