Domaine Louis Michel et Fils cultivates 21 hectares of vineyards, including Premier and Grand Cru plots. As with true Chablis, the wine is unoaked and fermented in stainless steel to preserve fresh fruit purity. It ages on lees in the tank for 12 months, developing complex bready notes and a rounded texture. The result is a vibrant, lemony wine with floral aromas, green apple, and zesty citrus. The Michel family, winemakers since the 19th century, excels in crafting Chablis from their prestigious vineyards.
Why do we like it?
The Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru is located on the right bank of the Serein river, next to the Grand Cru, it's a classic Kimmeridgian soil with marl and high oysters shell content with lots of pebbles. A wonderful wine from a vineyard that almost reached Grand Cru status within the world of wine! Very pure nose with racy and wonderful polished texture.. Ripe citrus and tone fruit with great length and mineral structure.
