Dorli Muhr founded Weingut Dorli Muhr in 2002 in Carnuntum, Burgenland, Austria, focusing on Blaufränkisch from the Spitzerberg vineyard. Why do we like it?
The 2021 Samt & Seide Blaufränkisch, from Spitzerberg’s limestone soils, is hand-harvested, spontaneously fermented with some whole bunches in open vats, and aged 20 months in large fuders. It offers rosehips, black pepper, and cherry-choc fruit with savory herbs. Silky tannins, vibrant acidity, and a mineral finish deliver Pinot-like finesse and complexity.
