2023 Ravensworth Montepulciano ‘Hilltops’ New South Wales, Australia

Enchanted by Ravensworth’s tale vineyards Bryan Martin, with wife Jocelyn and brother David, began crafting wines in 2001 in Murrumbateman. Their organic, minimal-intervention ethos shines in the Hilltops region, where they source Montepulciano. The straw-bale cellar, filled with oak and amphorae, feels like a canvas for Bryan’s artistry, blending science and soul.

 Why do we like it?

The Ravensworth’s Montepulciano, from Hilltops’, is whole-berry fermented, spending three weeks on skins, then aged in old puncheons. It has lovely dark berry and cola notes, with a savory edge and bright acidity. Medium-bodied, it’s vibrant yet structured, a  joyful sip that dances on the palate.
