2021 Jo Landron La Louvetrie, Muscadet, France

Jo Landron is a legend in the Loire Valley, a Muscadet pioneer, he transformed his family’s estate, founded in 1945, into a 48-hectare organic and biodynamic operation by 2011. Starting in 1979, he banned chemicals, emphasizing terroir purity. La Louvetrie, named after his estate, blends fruit from 15 to 30 years old vines across varied plots. That wine is vibrant, crafted from Melon de Bourgogne grapes.

Why do we like it?

It showcases a crisp, mineral driven profile with zesty lemon, lime, green apple, and saline notes, balanced by a creamy texture from 12 months of lees aging. The is everything you wish for in a Muscadet! The wine’s bright acidity and Atlantic influenced iodine character reflect its terroir made of sandy clay soils with amphibolite and gneiss. At 12% ABV, it’s fresh yet structured, ideal for early drinking within another 2-3 years.
