2023 Barratt, Gamay, Piccadilly Valley, South Australia

Barratt is far from a newcomer to the Piccadilly Valley wine scene. The Uley vineyard was established in 1983 and purchased by Lindsay Barratt in 1990, with the first wines bottled in 1992. Specialized in premium Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, Barratt Wines is a boutique producer with limited volumes. It’s a winery deeply rooted in Piccadilly Valley, now complemented by fresh growth as part of 'The Usual Suspects Collective' since 2022.This partnership has enhanced Barratt's operation, adding the expertise of 'The Collective's' winemaking team, led by renowned winemaker Andrew Hardy. Located at an altitude of 510 to 550 meters in the Piccadilly Valley subregion of Adelaide Hills, the Uley vineyard is just a few hundred meters from pioneering producer Ashton Hills. Spanning over 6 hectares, it is primarily planted with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and provide high-quality fruit.

 Why do we like it?

The Barratt Gamay is a fragrant wine, full of red cherries, pomegranates, roses and a touch of sweet spices. It’s also juicy with fine texture and smooth tannins.
