Pernot Père & Fils is a family-owned producer represented nowadays by the fourth generation: Pascal Pernot. The family's winemaking tradition dates back to 1900 with only 7 hectares of vineyard located in Brochon, neighbouring the village of Gevrey-Chambertin. Even though, the domaine is not certified, Pascal has implemented the use of biodynamic and organic techniques. It is the first year they are being shown in Australia and what a great discovery this is! Despite the challenges faced by the 2021 vintage, we can only admire all the wines we tried from Pascal, as all were showing great and are characterized by their vibrant colours, aromas and great flavours intensity!
Why do we like it?
The 2021 Pernot Père & Fils Gevrey-Chambertin is a remarkable wine that showcases the essence of its terroir. With a deep ruby hue, it entices with aromas of red and black fruits, delicate earthy undertones, and subtle hints of spice. On the palate, the wine reveals a beautiful balance between fruit intensity, velvety tannins, and vibrant acidity. It is layered and it represents what we adore in Burgundy when it is extremely well made: a great aromatic expression of Pinot Noir! It is so fine-grained, impressively elegant and simply magnificient!
