2020 Bodega Colome Estate ‘Autentico’ Malbec, Salta

Bodega Colomé was founded in 1831 in the Calchaquí Valley in Argentina. This is one of the most beautiful landscapes in Argentina, and some of the highest vineyards in the world. Their philosophy is to respect nature as much as possible. They are constantly thinking not only about how to achieve excellence in their wines, but also how to nurture and enrich the earth for the generations that follow. The protection and conservation of these natural resources is an essential key factor at Colomé. Taking care of the ecosystem, respecting the land, and living in harmony with nature are very important for this winery.

Why do we like it?

The ‘Autentico’ is a tribute to the pioneers who planted the vineyards of the winery in 1831. Since then, the vineyards at Bodega Colomé have been grown with sustainable farming practices to achieve the “authentic” expression of the terroir. It is harvested from their best vineyard located at 2300 metres. “Auténtico” is produced in the old winemaking style – ancient techniques such as pigeage (punch down) and no oak influence to retain freshness and purity of fruit. In the instance, Malbec gives an intense wine with aromas of black fruits and blue berries. It has an intense floral perfume of violets and chocolate, and in the mouth, tannins have concentration, they are ripe and round. The wine has a spicy character with notes of cloves and nutmeg, giving it a long smoky finish.
