2019 Badia a Coltinbono, Chianti Classico, Tuscany

Coltibuono has over 1000 years of history as a farm, producing some of the best wines and oils in the region of Chianti in Tuscany. No pesticides or herbicides have been used since 1985, when their conversion to organic commenced.  They became fully certified in 2000. Managing cover-crop, composting and increasing biodiversity are the most essential components of a truly sustainable organic approach, this increases the health of the environment but also the people that work in these soils.

The estate is small, in which care, passion and love is certainly a priority and it reflects in every bottle of this delicious wine. This wine comes from old vines between 15 and 40 years of age, so as you can imagine, low yielding and concentrated, adding to the complexity of the wines. We love it because it is so lively and expressive.

Why do we like it?

This Chianti Classico is sublime showing intense ripe red cherry aromas, but also gamey, almost cured meat like, truffle aromas, even a little tobacco and dried leaves. It's a wine that could aged very gracefully because of its natural high acidity and tannins. One of the very best Chianti Classico tried this year!
