Can you believe that this wine estate dates to 1578? To a time when the first evidence exists that vineyards and olive trees thrived in the region, this is history. The estate is now called Azienda Agricola Castelvecchio. All vineyards are looked after with love, through sustainable and low environmental impact viticulture.
The landscape is typical of the Carso region; arid and rocky soil with a reduced layer of red sand, but rich in iron and limestone. The area is constantly ventilated and influenced by the near sea, bringing a unique sense of minerality to the vines and therefore the wines.
Why do we like it?
The Terrano grape has plenty of acidity, wild fragrances of raspberry and blackberry, showing a beautiful ruby red colour with a purple rim. With its soft tannins and moderate alcohol content becomes very versatile for food matching. It can be drunk now, but if you can wait it will also keep for the next 5 years or so.
