2021 Louis Claude Desvignes, Morgon ‘La Voûte Saint Vincent’, Beaujolais

Situated in Villié-Morgon, Domaine Louis-Claude Desvignes, is made up of an 18th century house and a 17th century vaulted cellar where the wines are left to age. It is a beautiful historical place where no less than 8 generations have succeeded each other since 1712. The latest pair are the brothers Claude-Emmanuelle, who took over the running of the Domaine in 2001, and Louis-Benoit, who joined him in 2004. Together, they took over from their father, the emblematic Louis-Claude Desvignes. Their father is still present in the domaine and keeps a close eye on the future of the family-owned property.

The Domaine is reaching cult status in the region as it is the only Beaujolais domaine to have 3 stars at the revue des Vins de France magazine, highlighting the work and passion displayed by the family for generations.

Why do we like it?

The cuvée ‘La Voûte St Vincent’ comes from parcels located on the excellent Douby climate, made from 70 year old vines located not far from Fleurie. The fermentation is semi-carbonic in concrete tanks with a  9 month aging period in the tank before bottling. The wine is fruity and lively with lot of fresh raspberry and pomegranate notes and a touch of black cherry. There is also a hint of rocky minerality, a fair-length finish, and a lot of character.
