Domaine Valma is run by the Mathieu family in Fleurie, one of the ten Beaujolais crus and widely regarded as the most elegant and perfumed of them all. The lieu-dit "La Madone" takes its name from the hilltop chapel that overlooks the commune, marking one of the appellation's most celebrated vineyard sites.
Why do we like it?
This Fleurie shows the floral, perfumed character the cru is famous for — violets and red berries, silky tannins, and a delicate, graceful structure that distinguishes Fleurie from its more robust Beaujolais cru neighbours. It's a wine of real charm, made from Gamay grown on the appellation's pink granite soils, and a beautiful example of why Fleurie has earned its reputation as the most feminine and elegant of the Beaujolais crus.
